Counselling

Time To Look After You

As qualified, registered and experienced Counsellors our approach is from a humanistic perspective, which focuses on personal growth enabling a person to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions.  Our counsellors work with adults, young people, children, couples, families and groups.

What to Expect

Prior to the first session we would have a 5-10 minutes phone call to arrange your first assessment/counselling session and to see if one of our counsellors would be suitable to work together with you. If we are then we would ask for your email to send you the counselling contract (an agreement between us about the counselling process) and an information sheet about your counsellor. The first session is an assessment session and what we call the ‘getting to know each other session’. We will decide together whether we can work together and what your goals for therapy are. We will aim to meet weekly for 50 minutes per session at a time agreed by both of us. We offer short and long term therapy; we will explore your thought processes, emotions and patterns of behaviour. We will look at solutions together, if appropriate to do so. How long you continue in therapy is a choice between us and we review this throughout the counselling process, at every sixth session.

How can Counselling help?

Counselling offers a safe, confidential space to discuss anything you want to. It is with someone neutral who can be objective and empathic. Counselling allows you to offload how you may be feeling and empowers you to re-gain control of your life. It is important to remember counselling is a different experience for everyone and it is imperative that you feel comfortable with your counsellor. The therapeutic relationship is the vehicle for counselling; make sure you find the right person for you.
